The 2012 Pagosa Springs Fourth of July Parade had special meaning this dry year with the fires we’ve experienced throughout Colorado. The crowd seemed much bigger and the temperature was definitely cooler this morning for another great small town parade.

Below are three videos showing the entire parade along with more great photographs and a special fast-motion stop gap video as well. In all, we shot 33 minutes of HD video, shot 200 photos and took 1,325 pictures with the GoPro Hero 2 for our fast-action stop-gap video. Feel free to share with your friends and remember that you can always email me to request a special picture you’d like to share for non-commercial purposes.

Here is the Stop Gap Video at only .5 seconds. I liked the fast motion better.

I missed much of the fall colors this year because my grandmother was gravely ill in Kentucky. So we packed the kids in the car and visited with her for two weeks in her home and the hospital. I took the pictures below on my first day back in Pagosa Springs. They are all taken up Nipple Mountain Road (FS Road 665) or the small Forest Service roads that branch off of it.

Unfortunately, I spent the rest of the week locked in the office playing catch up on the real estate business and had to watch the colors from my office window.

This is a fabulous property in Navajo River Ranch with mammoth mountain views including Navajo Beak and the Banded Peaks. One of my favorite pieces of vacant land in Archuleta County.  This is a must see. Easy to preview with driveway to building site.

Piedra Road is a beautiful drive in Pagosa Springs from HWY 160 all the way up to Williams Creek Reservoir.   Below are pictures I took on New Years Day 2001 after a heavy snowfall.  Enjoy the pictures and be sure to watch the videos as well including our latest “Driving Pagosa Springs” video showing the massive amounts of snow up near the lake.  More “All Things Pagosa” snow-related stories.

Cimarrona Campgrounds in Pagosa Springs is a popular spot for hiking, fishing and hunting enthusiasts.  It is located 27 miles northwest of Pagosa Springs and 2.3 miles north of Teal Campground on Forest Road 640 just above Williams Creek Reservoir which is stocked with kokanee salmon and trout.  It features 21 campsites some of which can handle large RV’s.  The campground has water provides trash pickup and vault toilets.

I took these pictures on October 12, 2010 hoping to get the brilliant blue skies that Pagosa is known for but got to the site a little too late in the day and the clouds were already gathering above the mountains.

Mellane and I have always wanted to drive the Silver Thread Scenic Byway in the fall because of the massive number of aspen trees along the highway.  The Silver Thread Byway is defined as the 75 mile drive on Hwy. 149 between South Fork and Lake City.  The colors in Pagosa Springs are just now starting to change but much of the colors have peaked on the Silver Thread.  Enjoy the photos and video below and be sure to check out our “All Things Pagosa” Fall coverage from previous autumns as well.

Pagosa Springs Relay For Life — 2010 Pagosa Springs, Colorado St. Patrick’s Day Parade Photo

We all enjoyed a gorgeous day in Pagosa Springs today for the 2010 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The temperature rose to the high 50’s with crystal blue skies and a festive atmosphere.

My pictures are never too impressive with this parade because of the position of the sun in the late afternoon. I’m hoping the organizers will consider reversing the route so the parade runs east to west from now on. That way the sun will be at the viewers’ back with the mountains behind the participants. I started the “Driving Pagosa Springs” video series one after hearing time and time again from Pagosa property buyers about what an area looks like.  And I was pretty sure that Google wasn’t going to bring their Street View team to our little town anytime soon.

I’ve had mostly favorable reaction to the series — mostly from Pagosa diaspora.  They comment about how much they miss Pagosa and watching the videos help feel like they are home again.

I got the idea based on the popularity of our Pagosa Springs web cams.  Believe it or not, I regularly get calls telling us that a particular camera is not working properly (mostly in the winter when the snow weighs down the camera and makes a repair difficult) and the caller needs it up right away so they can get through their day in whatever office cubicle they want to momentarily escape from.
